Community Consultation

Why Public Consultation?

Since the adoption of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act of 2004 community consultation has been a key part of the planning system and such consultation is increasingly expected of proposers of planning applications.

As set out in Planning Policy Guidance Note 1 in February 2005 "The outcomes from planning affect everyone, and everyone must therefore have the opportunity to play a role in delivering effective and inclusive planning. Community involvement is vitally important to planning and the achievement of sustainable development"
